Muji becomes my best mate!

Muji 9-Drawer PP Unit £59.00+ 3 PP A4 Single Drawer Landscape Unit (bought in Hong Kong HKD130 per one I think)

For Muji 9-Drawer PP Unit, I personally think that this is a bargain! Because if you buy them separately, it's £18.59 for every two drawers. And the 9-Drawer package also comes with casters which costs £3.95. Casters do help much. I can move it to anywhere!

For the top level drawers

some tools

also double eyelid sticker (I have loadzzz stocks!!)

I used to apply them everyday for a deeper double eyelids. But I don't feel like using them now.

I bought this on taobao. And actually they are quite good.

For the second drawer

Eyeliner, eye pencil, mascara, eye base...

oh!! also blow pencil etc etc

Third drawer

Illamasqua blushers and some macs and other brands

Fourth drawer

More blushers.... and some concealers
I love benfit!!!

Bobbi brown shimmer bricks was my favourite.

Eighth Drawer

More eyeshadows and palettes

Bobbi brown again

Lunasol in the corner. I don't use them a lots now.

Ninth drawer

Tenth Drawer

Yes. Finally MAC! Seriously I don't fancy them now.

MAC mineralize eyeshadows

Eleventh drawer

Some brushes

Unopened NARS

Bottom drawer

Two brush cases

One with all MAC brushes

Another with big brushes

Muji PP Basket price ermm cant remember sorry :p
Muji Acrylic Pen Pot Round £2.25

Random tools

I always use eye pencil in black. Therefore I put them all in a pen pot. Easy to reach.

Black is essentail!

Conclusion :: Yes Muji! Makes organising simplified. And they look decent too.

    1. Hi Vera,

I didn't bring the whole drawer to the UK. I bought 3 drawers from HK, rest of them I bought from the UK :P

  2. Your collection is huge!!!
There are so many MAC/ NARS fans writing online showing their purchased products. I wonder if they ever throw away those colors that are bought years ago?

It seems to me that the stock life logo for powder product usually advices for a maximum length of 12 months at most. But the MAC/ NARS fans just keep all their purchases in a drawer, does this mean that these people do something special like using the recently renowned Beauty so clean sanitizing stuff so that the older stocks can still be used or at least, don't smell funny in the drawer? Hong Kong don't have much sanitizing products for cosmetics products to choose from. I also wonder about the sanitizing products the MA in the stores use.

    1. Hi Gladys,

LOL My collection is not hugh at all compare to most of the people. First thing first just curious, why do people want to throw away the items part of their collection? Stamp collectors don't throw their unusable stamps from their stamp book. For me I do sell some duplicate colours if I got same colour from my new bought palette. I sell them simply because I have the same thing. This is not because they are going to expire soon. Furthermore I searched through the internet and I found that expiration period for powder products are around 2 to 5 years. You must have high standard of hygiene awareness which is good for you. I never had one cosmetic smell weird no matter I opened it for one, two or three years.(My little secret: I still have my first ever makeup(eyeliner and blow pencil) with me. I know it sounds crazy but they meant something special. It has been about 10 years since I opened them. But frankly nothing odd I would smell.) I think its depend on how you keep them nice and clean. However trust me, I believe that experienced cosmetic collectors would have good sense of hygieness hence minimise the problem you mentioned above. For your information, alcohol can sanitising powder makeup (however this might change the texture)and scraping off the top layer will keep it fresh.

    2. Thanks for your answer. Yes, it's 48 months usually, I just have bad memory. But do you use products from the pan over 48 months onto your face? I think I would at least keep them to look at the color as future reference.

And here is another question and I am feeling sorrily irrelevant to raise it in this post but another desperate question needing an answer. I am just being a beginner fans to MAC and trying to replace my collection of another brand into MAC stuffs. I am quite confused for the dozen of products used in the MAC makeup lesson even after reading several Chinese and English makeup books:

      1. MAC MA refers their makeup collection as "water soluble". Mixing our favourite cream with foundation in the winter is a recommended practice /tips often mentioned by magazines or blog entried. I am always wondering if I am limited to use MAC skincare only before using primer as the makeupartist told (they use one single brush for every prep. face stuffs to foundation) or stuffs from any other brand will do, so as to go with those "water soluble" makeup. E.g. instead of spray and strobe cream, I am thinking about easier prep. steps like creams from good skincare brands or those sensitive skin brands like Physiogel that claim to contain lipids...) I feel slightly "funny" to buy another set of skincare that don't benefit the deeper layer of skin before using a base that already has moisturising function. Those answers from MA are just...blah blah.

      2. Similar question as above, in many books and youtube channel (recent favourite: gossmakeupartist), they don't mention and even discourage using too much moisturizer before primer as they will "glide" away the foundation at last. But MAC use spray, strobe cream, 2 eye products, before their primer and paint pot respectively, what do you think? I've learnt "a lot" as many make-up book don't include too much steps when they refer to no specific brands in their guides.

      3. Do you like powder foundation from MAC (I read from your post that you use other brands)? I am thinking about finding a 2 way cake, or as MAC MA insists, powder foundation, from MAC/ CHANEL/ GIORGIO ARMANI/ Cleu X X X. I look forward to a base + powder foundation combination on my rather rough skin because I need a 2 way cake that allow me to retouch my face in sweaty days in summer. I don't know if I am going for the right brand and right product. Are people with coarse skin (blocked pore) limited to liquid foundation, even in the summer?

If you have time to cover any of the above, it would be a great flavor for me. But please let them sink if they are inappropriate, after all, you are a fans but not a makeup artist and I just try my luck here.

    3. Hi Gladys,

      Sorry for the late reply.

      1. No. You are not restricted to use MAC skincare only. I believe that using skincare is more depend on your own feelings rather than people suggestions. For my opinion, I don't fancy MAC skincare at all. I always go for other brands that I feel more suitable of. Please do not hesitate to go for your beloved skincare brand.

      2. It is really hard to distinguish what does it mean "too much" for other people and for ourselves. First thing I would consider the weather of the day and the texture of my foundation. Always make a balance between every makeup products and skincare products. I would consider whether if my foundation is going to be oil control side or a moisture side for a watery finish. Hence adjust the skincare type. Sometimes I skip a step, sometimes I need more moisturiser for that day. But never goes too much is a key. As using too much product is only wasting it. As I said before, I don't know how much amount of moisturiser is too much for you and how much amount of moisturiser is perfect for you skin. I believe you could find your perfect ratio of everything as you are such a careful and attentive person. :)

      3. MAC is heavier than CDP I personally think. (more coverage) But CDP has better quality. I also tried maybelline and abion exage. For coverage, MAC>Maybelline=CDP>Abion Exage. For quality, CDP=Abion Exage>MAC>Maybelline, For oil control, CDP>Maybelline=MAC>Abion exage
Please bear in mind they are all 2way cake so you expect they are all heavy. Just Abion can create the most natural look and MAC is heaviest beyond heavy! But if you don't mind about the brand Maybelline has similar effect as MAC but a cheaper price. CDP is something luxury and the makeup goes more natural as time goes by.(it doesnt really "melt" when my oil comes out It tends to be more natural)

These are all my personally opinions based on my skin type. Hope at least they would help a bit :) x

    4. They don't help a bit only, but rather, tons!!! You are my lifesafer!!! Really touched at your thorough explanations! The makeup artists won't give that much answer and people online rarely have the time to face this kind of technical question!!!

    1. Hi Heidi,
      Sorry for the late reply.
Dolly Wink Mascara gave my eyelashes a rich black coating but not clumpy at all. The applicator can handle lower lashes easily. It is water (I never swim with this on tho) and smudge proof. If you want a dramatic eyelashes look I still suggest you go for Kiss Me(more clumpy but better on thickening your lashes). ;)
